From his Academy Award-winning screenplay for 12 Years a Slave to his Emmy Award-winning television series American  Crime, John Ridley’s work always investigates how we treat people as both communities and individuals.


His  latest  project, The Other History of the DC Universe, reimagines superhero storytelling by focusing on characters from disenfranchised groups. It’s an excellent example of how art can engage with meaningful issues, and it helps frame Ridley’s conversation with Mark Blankenship, The Flashpaper’s editor, about the future of American justice.
