Established in 2018, Nõ Studios DanceFest is a signature event that seeks to preserve and elevate dance as art, as well as a means of cultural expression. In an effort to make dance accessible to a new generation of fans and enthusiasts, DanceFest is independent and funded in its entirety by Nõ Studios and its partners.partners.
Our charming event spaces are cloaked in cream city brick. At the same time, they are equipped with high tech infrastructure including a screening room, performance stage and robust A/V technology.
2018
Founded in 2018, Nō Studios derives from the word play between a rejection artists are so often told, with, nō 能, the Sino-Japanese root word for "skill" or "talent". Founded by Oscar winner and Milwaukee native, John Ridley, the desire behind our 40,000 square foot headquarters is to create a hybrid experience platform, and social community that offers an environment for artists and activists to come together. Our historic building features offices, a state-of-the-art screening room, performance stage, café bar, and rooftop lounge and outdoor deck.
