Mary Louise Schumacher is an independent journalist, critic and filmmaker. She is directing the first feature-length documentary about art critic in the U.S. Mary Louise was the longtime art and architecture critic for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and was a recent Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. In 2019 she delivered the Clarice Smith Distinguished Critic Lecture at the Smithsonian. Her bylines have appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, ARTnews, Nieman Reports, People & Ideas and Milwaukee Magazine.
